I knew i had to put tentacles onto the jellyfish but was apprehensive at first....
I was worried that when i hung the jellyfish at an angle it would be dificult to get the tentacles to hand at the same angles without an industral fan or something. Also, i really liked the simplicity of the wire and didn't want to ruin it by adding dribs and drabs of materials and things- problem solved, i simple made the tentacles out of the same thin wire, ensuring then that the sweet simplicity of the pieces would remain intact aswell as holding the angle at which they were hung. Very happy with the finished project!

Tentacle madness!
Tried experimenting with some Das clay to make jellyfish models- unfortunately never got around to going down to the ceramics dept. to get a proper one done-but sure, plenty of time for that carry on!
The Blue and White tentacle piece i made reminded me of a Dale Chihuly Glass sculpture piece i saw in Murano.. I looked into him and wow, i've always found glassblowing so interesting and cool and seeing it first hand is pretty crazy...but this guy-well, he's nuts!

Wire and Wool
Hand-knitting tentacles proved to be quite succesful!
So here's my fairylight idea. Luckily i chose the right time of year to come up with this idea because the fairlights were easy to find. It took alot of confusing re-wiring and re-tying all of the wire in order for there to be seperate strands(tentacles) out of the one lenght of lights. once they were secured i wrapped wool around it in order to get rid of the fairylight look. Pretty happy with how it's going, unfinished as of yuet becuae as you can imagine it's quite time consuming- however, it looks AWESOME in the dark!

Thinking...
So i've been working on my CCS essay lately..whilst getting that finished i've come up with a few ideas with wire. I made a cool sculpture with an old lightbulb which i'll need to upload pictures of, but keeping in theme withe the wires and lights i went out and bought some fairy lights! I reckon i'll definitely be able to make something work with those...glow in the dark tentacles you say?

Dinner inspiration!
So i was havingsome langastine for dinner, and as i was struggling to get the damned things out of their shells, i realised that the shells translucency could be perfect for a jellyfih sculpture and... voila!

October ended with frozen blobs,
I loved this! it was gelatinei se in a bowl, then drew intothe base of the bowl with water soluble pastels, i then froze the gelatine and tipped it out, the finished piece was so perfect and smooth, shame it couldn't last. It eventully melted away and made a complete mess of my workspace!

Good Ole CCS Tutorials....
The importance of maths in art?
''Please God no!''
After years of struggling with maths I've spent the past two years thinking i'd never have to look at a sum again. Then David starts going on about geometry, proportion, Fibonacci...
''CONCENTRATE.. geometry was one of your stronger points in maths.. this could be interesting no?''
Hell yes. One hour later i find my head buzzing with the possibilites of the things i have to learn about maths from architecture through to paintings, sculpture... We've been set an assignment on how we think science betters art and i seem to be slightly...looking forward to getting started!
''Since when do you ever give a damn about studying or reports or essays.. let alone do them!? What have these people DOPED you with you fool!''
Its strange finding myself eager to learn all of a sudden, but i'm sure it can only be a good thing, the fact that i'm finding myself so interested in these things is puttng a bright light at the end of the tunnel i think. I'm feeling good about this! Can't wait to get started.
''You've gone mad''
Why yes, i do believe i have.

October started with alot of gelatine and alot of ink...
Injecting indian ink with a syringe to half-set gelatine produced some cool results!
These two were experiments with colours i mixed up using water-soluble pastels and injectig them to fully set gelatine.
